The Location Managers Awards UK will make its debut on Saturday 4th October at Liverpool’s historic St George’s Hall, celebrating the vital role of location managers in film, TV, and commercials. The Location Guide will be partnering with the event that aims to honour the creative vision and logistical expertise that bring productions to life. For the first time on a national stage, UK location managers will be recognised with the same prestige as their peers across the production industry.
The Location Guide has been announced as partner for the first-ever Location Managers Awards UK, taking place on 4 October at St George’s Hall, Liverpool. The awards, founded to recognise the often-overlooked work of location managers, are set to shine a long-overdue spotlight in the UK on the individuals and teams who make the magic of film, television and advertising production possible.
In an industry known for its glittering celebrations, the role of location managers has historically been underrepresented. According to Supply2Locations’ business development and projects director Ian Pearce, that is now set to change:
“The Location Managers Awards UK is a long overdue celebration. In an industry that likes to award and reward, often amidst the glittering lights and with full pomp and circumstance, the location managers have been too often missed out. Yet, their role is so significant and so fundamental. Without them none of it happens. It really is that simple. So, The Location Managers Awards UK is where it all changes!”
The partnership with The Location Guide is seen as a natural fit. Known globally for championing the art of location work through its media platforms and its flagship international event, the FOCUS expo in London, The Location Guide brings decades of experience in connecting production professionals worldwide.
“When creating an awards night to celebrate key performers in any industry it is of paramount importance to both match the event to, and work closely with, the right sponsors and partners,” Pearce adds. “The Location Managers Awards UK is a pioneering event being the first full UK national awards to celebrate and honour the location managers’ art and how appropriate to join with fellow industry pioneers The Location Guide who work so hard to deliver our other annual national event the FOCUS expo. Hope to see you all on Saturday 4th October, St Georges Hall, Liverpool.”
The alignment of the two organisations was further underlined in a statement made by producer Georgette Turner, that captured the spirit of the partnership:
“The Location Managers Awards UK celebrate excellence in location management, while The Location Guide and its flagship event FOCUS are dedicated to connecting and promoting the very same professionals worldwide. Partnering aligns our two brands with identical goals: showcasing the craft of location work and the people who make it happen.”
The industry response has already been enthusiastic. Veteran producer and former location manager Turner spoke of the significance of the awards and her own journey within the profession stating:
“As a former location manager I know first-hand what FOCUS has done to elevate and promote the art of location managing and to promote the hard work done to make those creative visions possible by location agencies, suppliers and film commissions worldwide. Working closely for many years with Clara Le and establishing the LMGI in the UK as the first UK executive board member, I was inspired to bring something UK-specific to help shine a light on the incredible work taking place up and down the country.”
For The Location Guide, this collaboration underscores its longstanding commitment to supporting the community it serves.
“We are proud to partner with the Location Managers Awards UK for its inaugural year. Location managers are the unsung heroes of our industry – creative problem-solvers who enable the stories we love to be told,” comments Clara Le, commercial director, The Location Guide. “At The Location Guide, our mission has always been to connect, promote, and celebrate this craft on a global stage through FOCUS and our platforms. Supporting an event that finally honours them here in the UK feels both timely and essential.”
As anticipation builds for the inaugural ceremony, the Location Managers Awards UK looks set to take its place as a cornerstone event in the British screen industries calendar. With The Location Guide’s sponsorship and the passionate support of the wider production community, location managers will finally step into the spotlight they deserve.
